I’m gonna talk about Depression for a minute.

On a bad day but with meds, I often don’t want to do anything and simple tasks feel overwhelming.

But I have been in this game long enough to know that without meds, it would be a day of thinking I shouldn’t be living. https://twitter.com/tiecrimes/status/1291417871780904962
People say SSRIs are a handrail and I think that’s apt.

You can still see the cliff and the water, but instead of just standing there listening to the Call of the Void, you’re holding on to something.

You’re able to detach, get perspective, look slightly more objectively.
SSRIs don’t change who you are or how you think. If you’re worried they’ll turn you into a different person or a robot, they won’t (if they do, tell your doctor).

They just give you a slight edge against the downward spiral. But that can make a huge difference.
With medication, I can tell on a bad day that I might do nothing. I might still need to take a personal day because work is a bridge too far.

But I can also tell that I can try again tomorrow. I don’t think “it’ll never get better.”

Off meds, I might.
So, you know. Take your meds. It’s a slight advantage but you can make that advantage count for a lot.
