Just hit me, I've been farming full time 3 years now. I've had more setbacks than successes

but i love it. Top of my successes, i managed to buy a tractor and plough during these 3 years, no small feat with the current economic situation in zim but i did it.

I have also fallen in love with horticulture production, growing quality crops always whether its 10k tomato plants or 2k cabbages or 1k watermelons etc quality must remain consistent. Looking ahead i want to be a top horticulture farmer in Zimbabwe in the not so distant future

Nothing in this world will ever prepare you for farming. Early mornings scouting, to all day land preps, constant breakdowns, be it your tractor or borehole, or your field has been attacked by an invasive pest nothing. Your crops become your best friends
Im forever grateful that i was fortunate enough to have a family that was both financially and morally supportive of my decision to leave a city life i enjoyed for 27years of my life to go out and live on the farm. They're days i want to quit when it gets tough but i press on
When I started out i thought farming was quick and easy money but wow

it's the direct opposite you will sweat you will cry you will hurt but you WILL make it. Everyday is a learning experience, you will make more mistakes than getting it right but the end goal is success.

Start small make as many mistakes as possible, gain experience and then you can upscale. Farming is a marathon not a sprint. Attend as many field days as possible read as many pdfs/books as possible seek agronomist advice and you will make it, if possible attain a diploma too
I am certainly not where i thought I'd be 3 years ago, but i am exactly where im meant to be. Growing and learning. In farming every mistake is a lesson to be better. You don't need hectares to start even a small 10m by 10m piece of land and you're good to go
I have had times I couldn't afford labour and I've done land preps myself, safe to say i hate it with a passion but if theres no one else i will do it myself. Am I embarrassed or ashamed by that? Nah, because i know where im headed and ill do whatever it takes to get there
My current header is one such motivation for me, the day i can afford that brand new 79 series 4.5 VX TD. Until then i press on a day a time a lesson at a time!!!
This is me working with my available resources gathering hay for my small herd of cattle took me two days and several trips to gather it all. Don't let anyone tell you, you cant do it. Just start with whatever resources you have you will get there!!!
