Let's talk 'Networking' for streamers.
What is it exactly? How can you do it effectively?

What is it exactly? How can you do it effectively?
*cracks knuckles* Let's break it down.

It's all about social interactions. Building relationships on common ground (ie. Streaming).
Commenting on someone's post. Chatting in their stream. Sharing someone's content.
This is networking! But doing it effectively is a different story.

People can click follow and forget. What you do after following is much more important.
Follow people you're genuinely wanting to work with or support. Not just because they asked.
(And no, Follow for Follow does not work)

If you want to network, you have to be engaging with people.
A comment on social media is more beneficial than a Like and chatting in a stream is more beneficial than lurking.

People can tell if you're in it just for yourself. You can't just take, take, take.
Ask 'How can I help?'
Not 'What can I get?'
And know your limit. You won't be able to provide the same amount of value to everyone and that's OK!

There should be a reason to try and include someone in your network (make a list!). It's not all about knowing as many people as possible.
The more focused your network is, the more you can focus on each relationship inside it.

How you conduct yourself will greatly impact your network.
Spamming your channel in other streams.
Mass tagging others in your Tweets.
Being rude to others (I shouldn't even have to mention this).
Don't close doors on yourself. You never know who's watching.

The goal is not short term.
You want to build long-lasting relationships with those in your network.
Being helpful to others now will help you in the future.
