While I agree japan's obsession with high school can get creepy/gross, and while I think it would be nice to see anime about adults - they're mainly going to make anime centered around what their culture values. Part of it IS the all-work-no-play grind their adulthood brings

Long work days are encouraged, and many times adults only have free time late at night to get drinks with their colleagues and coworkers - but that's it. So they're going to be nostalgic and make anime about high school because it was the last time they could have free time/fun.

I'd love more anime about adults but the combination of Japan's work culture making them long for their high school days + how much pedophilia is engrained into anime culture ...it's probably not going to be possible

also i know college kids is an oxymoron in this case but i referred to myself as a college kid in college so ...semantics lmao you get my point! i want anime about experiencing adulthood
