This is my daughter McKeighlee. For her 7th birthday next week she wanted to go to her favorite restaurant Benihana’s but we can’t because of the lockdown. @realDonaldTrump please make Gavin Newsom reopen California’s economy so she can celebrate! Retweet so he’ll see this!
Are you here because you’re outraged? Let me tell you about some people who, like JonBenét, were brutally murdered. UNICEF reports that in the United States there are four child homicides for every 100,000 people.
Last month, Secoriea Turner was sitting in the car with her mother in Atlanta when she was shot.
Royta De’Marco Giles Jr. was one of four bystanders caught in the middle of a shooting in Hoover, Alabama. He had just finished second grade.
Davon McNeal was visiting family in Washington DC over the Fourth of July weekend when we was shot. He was just 11 years old.
7 year old Natalia Wallace was playing outside with her friends in Chicago when she was shot in the head. She was described as “sweet, shy, loving, and good at math.”
On November 22, 2014, Tamir Rice died after being shot twice in the chest by officer Timothy Loehmann. His crime? Holding a toy gun. A grand jury decided not to indict Loehmann for murdering a 12 year old.
Breonna Taylor was a 26 year old EMT who had dedicated her life to saving the lives of others. She was not a child but she was someone’s daughter. On March 13, 2020 she was shot eight times by plainclothes police while sleeping in her bed. Her killers have not yet faced justice.
All of these innocent people died gruesome deaths. I don’t seem to hear much hollering about them though. Take some time to ask yourself why you’re not as outraged by their murders as you are by my tweeting a picture of a beauty pageant contestant who died over 20 years ago.
