GONE FROM #DisneyPlus (w/o warning) THREAD:
Well, USA, hope you enjoyed Old Dogs while it lasted. Came from Starz in February and gone already. Until... August 1, 2022. Thanks, HBO! So glad Disney has these these long-lasting contracts that tear content away from America!🙃
Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides left (for the 2nd time) in July. Back to Starz it goes. Hope you weren't planning to marathon all 5 Pirates movies in America. They won't all be in same place at once until September 2021... well, we hope. By then, another may have left.
July also saw the departure of Rookie of the Year, Fox's 1993 baseball classic. It will stream at Starz until July 2021. Got any 4th of July weekend viewings planned yet?
Not only that, but Starz was really greedy in July and stole Thumbelina as well. Hope you weren't planning to watch it on #DisneyPlus before October 2021.
Starz also snatched up Ice Age in July. You had a nice 4 month run in America, Ice Age. Now fans will have to wait until October 2021 to see Ice Age. If you're not an American #DisneyPlus subsucriber you're laughing because you probably have all 5! We have only 1. Yay USA!
In addition, July saw the loss of Cheaper by the Dozen which itself had only been available in America a few months. As of now it has not surfaced elsewhere so I don't have expiration date. But here's a gif, awkwardly ripped from the #DisneyPlus ill-timed twitter viewing party.
Looking for Home Alone 1-3? You won't find them on #DisneyPlus in America anymore. The first 2 were pulled in January and the 3rd in June. All FIVE are now streaming on HBO. Expiration Dates -
Home Alone 1 - Nov 1, 2020
Home Alone 2 - July 1, 2021
Home Alone 3-5 - Sept 1, 2021
Wait, what about Sandlot 1-2 ? YEP! They got pulled. Sandlot for the 2nd time. So #DisneyPlus USA is stuck with Sandlot 3. Sandlot 1 leaves Starz Mar 31, 2021. Sandlot 2 leaves Jun 30, 2021. You can marathon them with Rookie of the Year next Independence Day!
"At least I have Fox's Garfield live actions," you say? AS IF! Both were pulled after short stays mere months into the service. Our old pal STARZ is holding them hostage.
Garfield expires Jan 31, 2021
Garfield A Tail of Two Kitties expires Nov 30, 2020! Christmas is saved!
Remember when Flicka was there at launch? It left this spring for HBO. Boo!
But it can return April 1, 2021. I ain't foolin!
Yay! Horse girls unite!
HBO also stole November launch title The Pacifier! It returns after June 1, 2021. We can wait, right? I do like Brittany Snow though... she melts my heart.
HBO, you bully!
Did you know Dan in Real Life was on #DisneyPlus at launch? It left a few months later and has yet to surface at Starz, HBO, or Netflix. What gives? Did you know Never Been Kissed was pulled for 2nd time? As of now, it too hasn't gone anywhere long-term. But it has been on E!
Strange Magic got pulled only a month after launch. It hasn't been anywhere since, but using my genius intellect and knowledge of licensing I am *fairly* certain it will be going to Starz this fall and won't be returning to #DisneyPlus until 2022. I hope I'm wrong!
Speaking of mysterious "shortly after launch" disappearances... Shaggy Dog 2006 left along with Strange Magic from USA #DisneyPlus and has also been nowhere since. Maybe it had a 1-year "blackout period" between contracts. That's a thing. wya Dog?
This one was probably not pulled because of pre-existing contracts. White Wilderness was pulled because a bunch of animals DIED (see gif) during filming. But I don't know, man. They had to know that before they added it at launch. WHERE ARE YOU WHITE WILDERNESS? WHERE DID YOU GO?
I Captured the King of the Leprechauns streamed for... 1 day. As elusive as its namesake? February 1st was the only day to watch this. Maybe it will appear one day a year from now on? Gotta be careful, don't want TOO much Walt on #DisneyPlus... https://www.reddit.com/r/DisneyPlus/comments/fbykh1/did_did_they_pull_i_captured_the_king_of_the/
and finally... for now... Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration got yanked right after Christmas. Why tho? I need a Matthew Morrison fix. Because HBO has Glee Concert Movie until Dec 2020 & I'm worried #DisneyPlus will stick it on Hulu like the cowards they are.
OOPS I forgot a film. #FantasticFour Rise of the Silver Surfer had a brief stay on the American #DisneyPlus. However, it got pulled a few months ago. Now we know why. It heads to Starz Jan 2022, most likely.
**heads to Starz UNTIL Jan 2022. ugh typos on already posted threads :(((
