[Thread] I've talked on this before but I'm just shouting into a void so who cares right? I think @MTG_Arena is missing a huge opportunity and could save themselves a lot of work by taking advantage of the tools they now have access to with a digital client so here goes
Way back in closed beta I mentioned several times that Arena could be how wotc has the player base help tune or give feedback on new mechanics and card design ideas and the idea was largely shot down by devs and my audience bc that would have too much sway over the 2nd market
So here is how you do it without that happening.

Take a planeswalker or magic person who does experiments (Urza?) and slap their name on a game mode maybe make a reference to a card call it "Urza's Experiments" then as we all know wotc has said several times they work (cont)
ahead several years of current standard or whatever, So they can take card ideas they have and slap non specific names and place holder art on cards digitally and have these mechanics and cards available for all players FREE ( that's important) added to their collection (cont)
Market it as a LTE (Limited time Event like brawl LOL) and use this mode to allow players to build decks with these "Experimental" cards, no rewards or maybe just something cosmetic but absolutely no gems or gold

then bc wotc has a backend they use for data collection
(cont)
They can see what cards are being used or gravitated towards, speculation would be off the charts on reddit twitter ect and people would be buzzing about these new mechanics and this free fun mode where brewers get to play with "new cards"
You could rotate in new cards and out older test cards every month or so just updating text and leaving place holder art for cards, presumably this would keep the mode relatively low maintenance and fresh every month

(cont)
Now I can hear twitter's pitch forks now "bUt mO, wHaT aBout US paPer PlaYers?!" Well as previously mentioned the game mode would be free ( this doesn't work otherwise) and if you didn't know MTGA is free to download so the only issue is if you dont have a PC which I cant help
In theory everyone with a computer would have access to this mode to test and there could be some sort of feed back mechanism in game of short clips posted to reddit and twitter of deck lists and stuff you already do

this I believe could accomplish 2 big things
1 - Give wotc a low maintenance "Brewer's paradise" that has been asked for a million times

2- give players the ability to provide feed back (through raw data and via in game reporting), which could prevent the next Saheeli/Cat combo, Energy mechanic, T3feri, Wild rec ect
Okay, Okay, I can hear you now, "Mo this is a terrible Idea, this is a waste of wotc's resources"

Maybe, but the competition (HS) has been do this for years through their tavern brawl and other various modes and Runeterra just recently introduced labs (Cont)
and Labs are literally what I described in a discord with wotc devs years ago (while chris clay was on the arena project) in closed beta and the same idea I'm pitching here

okay but Mo why do you care you don't play magic sooooo???
I care bc my friends play magic and I've played magic for a majority of my adult life, I still love the game, I just don't stream it anymore bc I don't enjoy the current state the game is in. But I still want the community to have a good product to play and enjoy Magic as I did
Long thread this is the end

thanks for taking the time to read

I will state that this isn't a fully fleshed out plan of how to implement the game mode bc I'm not doing all that work with out getting paid XD but hopefully if enough people say something yall can make it happen!
