When I first moved to Seattle, I lived on 14th & Spruce with a bunch of white dudes in a band.

I walked passed the youth detention center almost every day. Every once in awhile a kid would manage to speak out a crack in a window.
Even if I was running late, even if they were being gross, I'd always stop and talk.

They were so bored.

They were so hungry to be humanized.

Any conversation that started with "HEY BABY" or whatever ended soft.
I wasn't an abolitionist then, but I was paying attention & here I am now.

All this to say

Pay attention. Ask questions. Witness. Nobody radicalized me but the existing system.

#NoNewYouthJail

End caging kids everywhere.

We owe them everything.
