hi we've seen this dress a lot lately on twitter, but i haven't seen anyone credit the designer, and there's already some low quality copies on wish/aliexpress.
so i went to do some research – a (mini) thread

the designer of this dress is Lirika Matoshi. she is a 20-year-old kosovo native, based in new york city. before getting popular and making herself a name, she was actually selling her creations (hand embellished dresses, tights, socks, blouses..) on etsy!

born from a poor family, she's never received any formal fashion design lessons. she learned from her sister, Teuta Matoshi, a kosovo-based fashion designer (who learned fashion design from scratch herself before joining a fashion design uni in kosovo).

with her and another sister, Sanija, they opened an atelier in their home country, where they made sure to employ precarious women (often widowed during the war in the 90's) as well as young aspiring fashion designers.

Teuta and Lirika work frequently together, with Teuta now based on her sister's nyc atelier
