Infrastructure as code, & abstractions on top of, it are the future.

This space is still in its relative infancy with plenty of time to get in early and cash in in the future.

I sometimes sound like a broken record here but let me explain.
Imagine you are a consultant / specialist and you can hand craft & document scalable back end infrastructure as easily & quickly as you can run a CLI command or spin up a React component because you understand it like the back of your hand.
A startup founder or team approaches you and presents their idea, feature, or rewrite.

You pop open your CLI or text editor and get to work.

In just a few hours or days you’ve built & deployed the entire startup infrastructure because you are that good.
Databases, APIs, storage, authentication, containers, everything.

This leaves them with only their key differentiator, business logic, to write and iterate on.

You, a single dev, have essentially replaced what in the past would have taken teams of devs weeks / months or longer.
You decide that charging a value based price of $30,000 makes sense & you are right, because you know what you are doing this is a steal for the startup.

You decide that a $10,000 monthly retainer for up to 20 hours of work / maintenance makes sense & you are also right.
This is the future as I see it and I’m already seeing this happen.

I’m fanatical about this space because I am seeing a paradigm shift & it’s not only back end devs getting in on it, it’s people like me who are traditionally front end devs.
In the past I was only able to build the front end & I never understood how to build a truly scalable back end with all of the bits & pieces like auth, security, data modeling, etc.. and put them all together. Modern cloud computing is making this accessible to more people 💯
