I just got done watching Sam Jay's 3 In the Morning. She's hilarious and I recommend checking it out!
But I must add, I'm disappointed that after it was so good at the beginning, it abruptly fell off with jokes that continue to perpetuate transphobic stereotypes.

It was AMAZING to see a Black lesbian doing comedy. Wanda Sykes is the only Black lesbian comics I can think of. Hearing Sam talk about her fights with her girl friend SENT ME.
Because fr, assuming a lesbian who dresses masculine needs to behave "like a man" is just foolish.

But then she still went and made jokes that perpetuate stereotypes of trans women being bigger, stronger, "super women" compared to "regular" (Sam's words not mine) cis women.
That shit harms trans people and is just fucked up and not funny.

Whole time she was describing a trans woman punching out a man for sexually harassing her and her cis friends and that's literally the punch line. That SURPRISE a trans woman is here to beat up the gross creep.
In reality, trans women are the most vulnerable to sex & hate crime.

I'm just like, if you can joke that Aziz Ansari isn't intimidating because he is 5'5" Indian man that any woman could easily knock the fuck out, I just cannot understand the logic that trans women are inherently super strong, tall and athletic because they are trans.
HUH?
HUH?
But Sam admits that she doesn't have all the answers and she is learning and trying to treat all people with humanity and respect.
I appreciate and respect that.
Hopefully the next time I see her, I can belly laugh through the whole special without cringing through some parts.
