STARGAZING

Such an amazing intro. Starts spacey, with an amazing beat switch up to amp up the track in the second half. I prefer part one but the switch and part two are still great.

9/10
CAROUSEL

I love the synths that carry along the beat throughout the track, giving it an almost church organ backdrop. Travis sounds good on the track and Frank Ocean's hook is really fun and well integrated.

8/10
SICKO MODE

What more can be said? One of the biggest tracks of the decade, Travis absolute kills it once the beat changes up from Drake's intro.

Drake sounds good on the intro, but his actual verse... eh, take it or leave it.

(Still a great track)

RIP SCREW

A change of pace after Sicko Mode, this track is nice and breezy and pretty inoffensive, but often one that doesn't end up being overly memorable for me personally.

6/10
STOP TRYING TO BE GOD

For me, a top 3 Travis Scott track. The vibe of this track is another level, being introspective and floaty at the same time, and then building into a strong finish with a great feature from James Blake and ended beautifully with Stevie Wonder.

10/10
NO BYSTANDERS

While I never skip this track (the fuck the club up refrain is the catchiest refrain in the fucking world), I do think it is quite generic, for Travis Scott's usual standard.

5.5/10
SKELETONS

I love the way the beat expands as the track goes on, ending up sounding very grand, almost like a MBDTF era Kanye instrumental. Travis isn't on top form on this track but the overall vibe of the instrumental rising and falling really helps.

8/10
WAKE UP

I just dont really enjoy this track at all. It comes off as very basic to me, and whilst I think the weeknd usually adds a lot to any track he collabs on, this one falls pretty flat for me.

4.5/10
5% TINT

I love how the piano carries this instrumental along, and the way Travis flows across it sounds great to me.

8/10
NC-17

On it's own, this track isnt anything too ear catching, but following up 5% Tint it almost reminds me of an inverse version of that track in the way the beat is structured. 21 Savage drops a fun verse also.

7/10
ASTROTHUNDER

Travis sounds fucking GREAT on this track. The beat keeps the almost etheral vibe going which has flowed throughout the project, and this is one of the highest points for me.

9/10
YOSEMITE

I'm really not much of a Gunna fan, and I really think Nav sucks, but holy shit if these two don't sound great on this track (Gunna especially). Travis' performance is good on this track, flows very nicely across the low key instrumental.

8/10
CAN'T SAY

Three words. DON fucking TOLIVER. He sounds unreal on this track, drops a great verse which honestly saves this track for me. Travis comes off a little forced/strained for me here.

7/10
WHO? WHAT?

This song does pick up the energy and does have banger potential at a party or loud in the whip, but otherwise I find it pretty lacking.

5.5/10
BUTTERFLY EFFECT

This almost feels like a repeat of the previous track but a couple gears down. I prefer this track, but still nothing special. These tracks alone are not great but still have appeal in a full listen of the LP.

6/10
HOUSTONFORNICATION

I really enjoy the eerie arrangement on the beat, with the stretched out synths almost reminding me of Knotty Head by Denzel Curry/Rick Ross. Maintains the albums aesthetic well.

6.5/10
COFFEE BEAN

This is a good way to close up the album, with a real change of pace in the almost boom bap inspired instrumental, with Travis flashing some introspective thoughts to close out the project. Different but still enjoyable.

7.5/10
END OF THREAD: 1/2

As a whole I really enjoy this album! It is signature style blended well throughout with some slightly lighter and more airy sounding instrumentals compared to the more brittle sound palette of Birds or Rodeo, but I think this helps the album-
END OF THREAD: 2/2

- Maintain its own charm in comparison to those albums. The aesthetic fits so nicely that the underwhelming tracks still have their place in a front to back listen. Can't wait to see what the next project will sound like!
