To understand HOW the twitter algo works...
...you have to understand WHAT the algorithm is FOR.

And to understand that?
You need to know ONE thing:

They must serve you the EXACT content you want to see.

In the old days, Twitter showed you everything, in reverse chronological order.

This meant you saw tons of stuff that was BORING to you...

Now? Twitter uses an algorithm to PREDICT what content you will LOVE, and show that content to you.

Your own curated feed.
Adapted just for you.
Designed to keep you engaged.

How does it work?

Behind the scenes, the algorithm is based on a "deep neural net".

This means it works like a giant artificial brain.

And that brain is ALWAYS learning and adapting to new information.

Because of this, even the engineers don't know exactly 'how' the algorithm makes it decisions!

But what the Twitter Engineers do know is what information they feed the algorithm.

And we know this too, because the engineers have TOLD us.

There are 3 major inputs that the algo looks at to decide what to show you. They are....

A: Who wrote the tweet.
B: How much engagement the tweet already has.
C: What kind of tweets you engaged with in the past.

Let's Dig into each one....

Factor A: Who wrote the tweet?

The algo shows you tweets from people you engaged with in the recent past. It also shows you tweets from people who usually get lots of engagement.

Factor B: How well the Tweet is already doing.

If a tweet gets good engagement from the start (likes, retweets)
The algo wants to show that tweet to more people

It measures this RELATIVE to other tweets from the same user.

Factor C: The kinds of tweets YOU engage with.

The algo uses a machine learning technique called NLP (Natural language processing) to find and show you tweets that IT thinks are similar to tweets YOU liked in the past.

The algo uses all of these signals (and dozens of smaller ones) to come up with a personalized score JUST FOR YOU for every tweet on the timeline.

Then it shows you the tweets with the highest score...

Make a list of 10 top accounts in your niche.

Now use twitter advanced search to find their TOP performing tweets.
