/ Ten years ago, while Libya's Col. Muammar Qaddafi & other racist murderers were being elected to the U.N. Human Rights Council, we invited Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeer to our @GenevaSummit to sound the alarm on China's destruction of her people.

/ The next year, in Sept. 2011, we invited Uighur leader @KadeerRebiya to testify about China's persecution of her people at our We Have A Dream Summit in New York, held in parallel to the U.N.'s Durban 10 meeting. Yet the U.N. refused to act.

/ “In an attempt to label Uyghurs as ‘terrorists,’ China uses our Islamic faith as a pretext to conflate peaceful dissent with ‘terrorism'. Since 9/11, hundreds of Uyghurs charged with alleged ‘terrorism’ have been executed, and thousands arrested and sentenced.”

/ UN Watch worked together with Rebiya Kadeer to place this op-ed in the Wall Street Journal: "China's Double Game on Terrorism: Like Tibetans, Uighurs seek freedom from oppression, but Beijing calls them extremists." https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424053111903703604576584550167314960
/ At our 3rd Geneva Summit for Human Rights, held in parallel with the UNHRC, we brought Bahtiyar Ömer, a Uighur human rights activist whose wife Gulmire Imin received life in prison for being an “illegal organizer” of the 2009 demonstrations.
/ In 2019, UN Watch led an global coalition of 100 NGOs urging UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres & rights chief Michele Bachelet to condemn China’s abuse of UN rules to censor, interrupt & block references to its detention of 1 million Muslim Uighurs. https://unwatch.org/un-censors-100-rights-groups-on-chinese-abuses-blocks-publication-of-joint-appeal/
/ In 2020 we hosted Uyghur leader @nuryturkel at our 12th Geneva Summit for Human Rights. “3 million Uyghurs have been detained in modern day concentration camps designed to ‘teach like a school, be managed like the military, and defended like a prison.'” https://www.genevasummit.org/nury-turkel-speaks-at-2020-geneva-summit/
/ Last year at the U.N. Human Rights Council, when the Islamic group of states were silent, we called out China for destroying its Uighur Muslims. China came after us—and tried to shut us down.
/ Again in June, when China brought in Xinjiang's Vice-Governor to tell the UNHRC that its herding of 1 million Muslims into camps was to “prevent terrorism," Pakistan and all other Islamic states—due to business ties—were silent. But we at UN Watch spoke for the Uighur Muslims.
/ Last summer, we exposed the official letter by 50 UNHRC reps—including from Muslims states Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, North Korea, State of Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Somalia—that PRAISED China for locking up 1 million Muslims in camps. https://twitter.com/HillelNeuer/status/1167038932586061824
/ In June 2020, at an urgent U.N. Human Rights Council debate on racism & police brutality, I asked why a regime that locks up 1 million Muslim Uighurs was put on the U.N. panel that vets human rights monitors.
China's rep then lashed out at me at for "abusing human rights."
