Off again! But where to?
Not having much luck with buffets!
Dinner ahoy! Finally on board. Not a @_DiningCar but a good meal on the move - and well worth waiting for.

"Slecht nieuws" said the guard on the Utrecht to Arnhem Intercity - and we were all turfed out at Ede-Wageningen. Missed the stopping service to Duisburg, so it's a ride on the ICE...

Buongiorno Italia! A smooth ride, comfy accomodation and no border checks made for a lovely journey. The famous @unsereOEBB Nightjet breakfast was scaled down - understandably given current restrictions. In all, it was a pleasure - but I have not yet reached my destination!
A day trip to Orte to meet a friend - and look where she took me!

Then a lovely afternoon at the Lago de Vico.
Then back to town on the Intercity. It's even got a buffet, of sorts - but nothing even remotely resembling a @_DiningCar
Another night, another train - this time the 'Excelsior' accomodation on the Intercity Notte to Palermo. Since the shower does not work, the size of the towel is somewhat academic. But still, it's a sleeping car and I'm glad to be travelling!

Catania - and my first night not on the move - and a room upgrade!
Catania is another beautiful city - and the food is wonderful too.
Catania by day is also worth more than a passing glance.
All good things come to an end - time to head back to Staines, hopefully back at 'work' 6 pm Saturday. But remember, when you go by rail even the journey home is part of the adventure. We shall see...
