I saw a tweet about this craziness that happened on the steps of the Supreme Court and got started when I noticed someone on the far left of the photo... 1/18
I looked closer and realized why he looked familiar even in that weird old white man smirk that seems ubiquitous among people making a fool out themselves trying to discuss conspiracy theories... 2/18
I looked everywhere for an article that would talk about the others doctors in attendance instead of just the crazy demon sperm lady and finally found a transcript...3/18
Doctor Bob Hamilton of Pacific Pediatrics. This guy literally delivered me. The first person on the planet besides my mom to ever come into contact with me. He’s an old family friend. Why has he associated himself with these absolutely insane conspiracy doctors you might ask?4/18
Well a few years ago he got über famous from his decades old technique to calm crying babies from his viral video here: 5/18
The technique certainly works and he could have ridden off into the sunset with his book sales on newborns going through the roof and his appearances on GMA whenever a royal baby is announced. However he didn’t and what I’m about to tell you might explain why: 6/18
I grew up in a cult. It was called Lighthouse and for the first 9 years of my life I lived and breathed this super conservative, young earth creation, fire and brimstone on the horizon, everyone not a part of this specific church is an agent of the devil-type craziness. 7/18
The pursuit of knowledge was the very first sin because Eve ate from the tree of knowledge as her first act of rebellion from god. Everything you need to know is already in the Bible and if you don’t know something and the Bible won’t tell you, then that’s gods will... 8/18
Looking for more information is turning your back on god and is a surefire way to get a one way ticket to eternal damnation in the fires of hell... 9/18
Now I was 0-9 years old going through these teachings and I had no access to any outside information. I fully believed that if I stepped out of line I’d be sent straight to hell to burn for all eternity and I’d deserve it. Heck I already deserved it just by being born... 10/18
We had no access to popular media, TV, music, movies that had not been approved by the church. Books were a little bit easier to smuggle past the elders, but most were off limits and even burned when found. I personally attended my share of book burnings... 11/18
Dr. Bob Hamilton was one of those elders (as were my parents). There were about 6 main families that I can remember that made up the backbone of the cult: the pastors’ with 8 children, mine with 9, the “C”s with 7, and the Hamilton’s with from what I can remember 5?... 12/18
I don’t know to what extent Bob and his family were beholden to the teachings of the cult but I do know that every opportunity spent with anyone “outside” had to be spent proselytizing or else you were probably consumed with fear of the devil and were weak in your faith. 13/18
Dr Bob Hamilton can’t just ride on his success as a cheerful enough pediatrician who has a way with keeping babies quiet. He has to push his faith and continue to grow his platform. That’s why he’s associated with absolute bonker types such as Stella “Demon Sperm” Immanuel..14/18
But I also can’t say he’s simply associated with these people for their ability to go viral from the sensation of their craziness. I can’t say he himself does not believe in demon sperm because those sort of metaphysical beliefs were exactly what we’re pressed upon me. 15/18
We left the cult in 2006 and it took me until at least 2014 to fully deprogram with the help of some wonderful public school teachers. I can say now I fully trust in science and in my capacity as a chemical engineer I appreciate true expertise, but I can’t understand... 16/18
How a medical doctor who would join such a cult after such an education and put quite a few children through that same experience would not recognize the harm and distance himself from it sooner? It also seems he has continued to embrace fringe ideas in rejection of expertise 17
either in an attempt to garner further fame or a willful ignorance of the harm of such actions. Either he’s complicit or he’s ignorant in the perpetuation of such insanity but either way he should not be booked or listened to as any sort of medical expert again. 18/18
