First time I had anything to do with Radiohead I was at at Emi and the desk phone went. A guy on the other end of the phone said he was Colin from Radiohead and that if I could get him tickets to Tony Joe White at the Power station then he would come and play me the new album.
I said if he was really Colin from Radiohead then I’d go one better and put him up in a hotel for two night too....if he did promo for us. He did a ton of Radio and Press interviews. The album was OK computer. He played it and burnt it for all media months before release.
Months later the label (Parlophone in the UK) sent us an email saying that they were sending us an advance tape of the first single but it wasn’t to be played outside of our office. It was before the internet really worked so they never knew.
Sooo after OK computer came out and debut at number one. The band came back. We all went to Piha and went swimming. While we were there they found out they were nominated for their first Grammy. They asked if we could play the album on the way back to town and do air
. We did:)

It had originally been me and 4 of the boys in the sea. Thom was on a deserted beach. I asked the others if Thom didn’t like
. They said no he loved it, but he was worried someone would steal the lyrics from his bag. I got out and said I’d guard the bag. Thom swam and loved it

The show was mind blowing. Amazing production. Only downside was the venue, Logan Campbell Centere. Here’s the backstage pass from the show and the tour run on the back.
Here is the Hail to the Thief unopened jigsaw and unopened copy of the promo album and the albums ‘document’.
The signed Ok Computer album poster. The band came back many times for their own gigs but also to play with Neil Finn at his shows. Was always good to catch up. Last time they were here we had lunch at Prego and went down to Serato to get vinyl and a controller. Lovely people.
