Just so everyone understands - these "leaks" aren't coming from the Biden campaign. Or even his allies.
They've all been washed up Dems who left the party forever ago.
And they are meant to do ONE THING:

They WANT you to think that he chose her because of their hate. They WANT you to think that it was Biden's attempt to "buy your vote." They want his announcement to be about anything BUT the fact that Kamala Harris is the best candidate on her merits.
Because then, even when he does pick her, you'll have that doubt. "Maybe he only picked her to keep the Black community happy." And that might be enough to keep you from phonebanking. That might be just enough to keep you from sending that donation. That doubt.
And that might be enough to save some of the Senate seats for the GOP. That might be enough to prevent the push needed to turn Texas blue this election.

The GOP wants you to doubt Biden's sincerity every time you see them together. The progressives WANT you to think he picked a woman out of obligation, not by choice.
They want you to question the motives of a man who's spent his whole life fighting for women.

And the media gleefully reporting these without even validating them?
They want a horse race. Noone will watch a election where someone is a 20 point favorite.
So they have no qualms about stabbing Biden and Harris in the back w/ anonymous leaks and letting you amplify them.

All it takes an "anonymous leak" scapegoating a member of the party via an op-ed on Twitter, and the calls for their ousting are immediate.
This serves two purposes:
Forces Biden to address imaginary dissent instead of campaigning on his messages
