Analysing West Brom for #FPL

(a thread)

#FPLCommunity Enjoy and please like & RT!😄
West Brom scored 77 league goals, the second most (to Brentford), and joint with champions Leeds. 18 of these were from set pieces, as well as 7 penalty goals. 44 of their 77 goals came at home, which was joint most in the division.
Defensively, West Brom conceded 45 goals, which was 3rd least in division, although it is relatively high for a promoted team. However, they only conceded 18 goals away from home, which is the best in the division.
This is perhaps due to them playing more conservative away from home which would expect them to do in most games (including home) in the Prem. 36% of West Brom’s conceded goals came from set pieces, which is significantly high....
Charlie Austin is their main penalty taker, taking their last 4, scoring all of them while doing so. Matheus Pereira takes corner either side as well as free kicks where he has scored 2. Semi Ajayi has scored 5 goals from set pieces.
WBA have played a 4231 all season. Johnston was a constant starter in net, with Ajayi and Bartley the partnered CBs. Dara O’Shea looks like the starter at right back after the departure of Nathan Ferguson although he has competition in Furlong....
At left back, Connor Townsend featured the most although Kieran Gibbs is their first choice when fit. However he only managed 14 starts.
Livermore & Sawyers formed a partnership in central midfield, starting 84 games between them. Bilic rotated a lot with the front 4, but Pereira was always a sure starter as a 10 or on the right. Matt Phillips made the most starts of the rest at RW with Dianganga preferred at LW..
The most unsure selection was up front where Robinson, Austin, Zohore & Robson- Kanu all featuring. It is very difficult to predict who will start there, however Robson-Kanu made the most starts there (24), and Zohore starting the least (5).
Austin and Robson-Kanu were joint top scorers, with 10 each. Diangana & Pereira scored 8, and Diangana scored 7. Of assists, Pereira made an impressive 20 with Diangana 2nd with 7.
Ajayi scored 5 from centre back this campaign. It is worth noting that he scored 7 the season before, and 5 the season before that. He is certainly a big threat from set-pieces.
I will now go through the options you should consider, including position and price predictions....
Sam Johnstone – 4.5 (GK). Made 7th most saves in league. Could be a good budget option although I can’t see many clean sheets....
Semi Ajayi – 4.5-5.0 (DEF) – good goal threat as previously mentioned- too much at 5.0 million but nice enabler at 4.5. Joint 3rd top scorer of defenders in league.
M.Pereira – 6.0-6.5 (MID) – main attacking threat in a decent attacking side, most shots p/g (2.6) AND key passes, 2.8 (double anyone else). Takes set pieces and is a certain starter. As mentioned before, 8G&20As. Most assists in league, and 8 more than anyone. Likely in my side!
Grady Diangana – 5.5 (MID) – At the moment he will be staying at West Ham but assuming he stays he is looks a likely starter after nailing down a spot towards the end of the campaign. 8G,7A in only 23 starts! Not as dangerous as Pereira, only 1.6 shots p/g and 1.4 key passes.
I will stay clear of the forwards at the moment, as it is a mind-field as to who starts. Although the starter is likely to be 6.0 or less so could be a decent option! Austin would particularly interest me because of his PL record...
