someone said that some white people cannot cope with the pain their ancestors caused so they choose to uphold it.
with the idea being that for many racist people, their entire personhood & identity is centered around inflicting pain on others. facing that reality, that their whiteness is a weapon, would mean to feel deep immorality and disgust with ones own existence.
and that level of accountability would cause great detriment to ones own ability to thrive in this world because many would face severe imposter syndrome and feel like their identity amounts to nothing. or that they have nothing. nothing positive at least.
what do you have when you don’t have what was stolen? that is a question that would throw many racist people into an existential crisis and mental disorientation. so the justification is to uphold the wrongful behavior +
and continue to perpetuate it because it’s the only ground.. the only identity they have to stand on.
