Airbus A220 'Whisperjet' is too loud, according to Zurich residents

The A220 “howls” twice about 10 miles out from landing at SEA

I think it’s due to landing gear door opening and closing

Took me a while to figure out the type but one just did it again! https://www.traveller.com.au/airbus-a220-whisperjet-is-too-loud-according-to-zurich-residents-h17jqc
The howl is “100% repro” when it happens.

It always happens twice with a small time gap between.

It’s a down sliding pitch that comes back up a bit (a yowl more than a howl). Repeated.

Both occurrences in the pair are the same which makes me thing something repeating.
In this case it was DL767 flight from Chicago ORD coming into SEA with southbound approach (the winds have flipped today, so landing into southerly winds).

Aircraft registration N107DU
Looks like it can happen in other Airbus with the same engine

A mild version of the noise in spool up for an A220 departure.
A much better version of the Airbus A220 “howl” or “yowl” on engine spool up.

I see some people call it the “Whale sound”. A bit like a Humpback whale singing.

So it is in the engines.

So much for a WhisperJet (that SHOUTS everyonce in a while!).
Last on in the thread (for now) but this is rather good thread on the discussion of the “whale song” or “howl” from the A220
