Looking at all these #BestComicPage entries, I am struck by how many indelible and note-perfect Claremont X-men pages there were. It’s easy to forget how he was the main architect for a revolution in team comic books. 1/
When I was last at @nycc, he was kind enough to look me up at my table, he came by during a break from his own long line of devoted readers. And he started telling this FANTASTIC story he wanted to write for @DCComics. 2/
It was this great Superman/Lois/Wonder Woman story, and he told it like a campfire story. I was swamped, but we all stopped to listen to this master storytelling legend tell his icon dream story...it was one of the coolest con memories I have had. 3/
The best thing was, all the pros at close tables started leaning in to hear the story pitch, several just stopped to listen while walking by. And I have to say, even ASIDE from the fact that it was Chris Claremont telling the story... 4/
...it was one of the most thrilling and exciting pitches I’d ever heard. It made me wonder, what if Chris had been assigned to write those characters during his early years, instead of the X-men?
It sort of boggles the mind.
Lovely fellow, absolute legend.

And any writer of team superhero comics who doesn’t admit to borrowing a LITTLE bit from Chris is either fibbing or fooling themselves.
Dear @DCComics, I hope you do this story someday, I would love to read it!
