2/ This week's rise in #COVID19 deaths was driven in part (but not entirely) by Monday spike due to change in reporting in Texas, which switched to working from death certificates rather than reporting from local health authorities. Texas daily death counts from @nytimes data:

4/ Remember that deaths are a lagging indicator. Even though new daily cases have stabilized with moves by states that experienced surges to reverse reopening of bars etc, any change to the rising death count will lag by several weeks.
