cw: rape

I’ve read a few different books this month w implied or explicit rape, & each of them has handled it in such different ways. but for the most part the authors provided closure, with varying degrees of nuance.

and — for a story, yeah, that’s kind of what’s required. previously, I’ve read some amazing “issue” books that show how, in reality, these traumatic events are rarely sealed permanently in life or memory.

I kind of wish, when SA shows up in non-issue books, we could have more of the nuance. I’m pleased with the books I read this past month because the aftermath frequently centered the victim rather than some random other person
cw: rape

(none of these books were written by cis men... hmm 🤔)

this is getting a bit rambly, so I’m gonna close by saying

-thx to any author that provides content warnings in their books
-I wish SA didn’t exist but damn I’m glad more books exist to handle it w nuance & grace & YES, I also love the occasional revenge &/or murder
cw: rape

(one book I read would have been irredeemable to me if the r*pist hadn’t been murdered. because that was the promise of the premise.)
