My institution is moving most of their classes online this fall, but there will be students living on campus and a small handful of classes taught in some sort of face-to-face way.
We just heard that masks will be required for all shared indoor spaces, and that the university is providing masks for students living in residence, and for all staff and faculty required to work in shared indoor spaces.
Our budget was devastated by the provincial government this year. We are losing upwards of 40% of our student enrolment. And still, we managed to figure out a way to offer protection to those using the facilities.
Yet, somehow, the provincial government isn't doing anything to ensure this kind of safety is extended to the students, teachers, and staff at our public schools.
How is it possible that a university on a shoestring budget is able to figure this out, but our provincial government can't find the money for public schools?
