Chief of Detectives B. Denihan giving a press conference regarding yesterday's shooting of an officer.
Offender walked right in front of 2 police officers and entered a stolen vehicle that had been reported as being suspicious and which was taken in an armed vehicular carjacking AS OFFICERS ARE RECOVERING THE VEHICLE.
Officers jump from their squad, and as offender is trying to start and leave with the vehicle officers stop the offender and a struggle ensues.
Offender is eventually cuffed behind his back and the officers call for a transport. Offender is complaining the cuffs hurt and that he has a skin graph and needs to be cuffed in front.
Officers refused to cuff the offender in front and the offender is placed into a caged transport vehicle
During transport offender is able to slide his feet between his cuffed hands and access a gun which he had well secreted in his private area.
When they arrive at the station officer goes to remove the offender from the vehicle and when the officer opens the squad door the officer is immediately shot in the face
THE POS OFFENDER WAS CURRENTLY ON PAROLE AND WAS JUST RELEASED FROM ELECTRONIC MONITORING.
