I'm in Whitcomb Court with several dozen activists who have committed to defending a lifelong resident from eviction. This is not a protest march or a demonstration. It is an eviction defense. Personally I've never attended something like this, and I'll be sharing my experience. https://twitter.com/jljlovesrva/status/1289174163605749762
Included in this group of Richmonders standing in defense of a neighbor are #RVACouncil candidates @Chipman2020(6th) and @JosephSHRogers(7th). Not sure there is a better way to demonstrate your commitment to the people than undertaking an eviction defense like this.
The mood is happy and relaxed. Folks are laying out picnic blankets in front of our neighbor's home and somebody is playing the classic Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell duet "Your Precious Love" through their car speakers. Other residents are waving hello and going about their business.
I fell off a Bird scooter yesterday (gracefully) and my arm is lightly sprained, so don't be alarmed if you see me in a wrist brace and makeshift sling. I'm just giving it some rest to heal and tweeting with my off-hand.
Some literature that people on hand have to distribute to residents if they are also facing eviction. – bei Whitcomb court
