So here is what happens next.
Sweden will be first out as having done the right thing as apparently not got a media that is a bunch of bed wetting activists.
They can go back to normal - though they never really stopped.

The US by the end of August will see infection numbers in the main infection areas die down as they hit herd immunity. These places will begin the slow return to normal whereas other cities that "did the right thing" and locked down early are screwed.

The population have neither the willingness or money to spend months back sitting at home. So LA etc are going to have to put up with a high spike and the worry that it will overrun the health system.

In Europe you will now see regional outbreaks which will prove impossible to contain for the same reason. People have had enough and financially need to work. If we are lucky we will manage to keep it under the health system capacities. But it will be touch and go.

In every country the race is on for people to get infected so we are not carriers before the winter where the chances are this virus will kill many many more people which is exactly what rational people (so not the media) were worried about in the first place.

What we have done is almost certainly shaft the young whose life has been badly impacted because older cry babies and an incompetent media by whipping up a storm have meant that schools are shut and probably will stay shut.

When people get up each morning and bemoan the state of the country - the ruined economy and the children without education they should remember those fault it is.
Theirs and the media who drove the government into these crappy decisions.

My contempt is complete and overwhelming for all parties involved in this sorry episode.
