We talk about a lot on here how autism presents differently in women and girls. I've just been looking through old home videos from my family. To me, it's obvious looking back. So I thought I'd share some clips, so more people understand how autism can present.
Note it's not only girls who present like this, but any gender also can. I just fit the current stereotypical view of autistic women.
FYI the clips will be 90s film quality and, this is from my toddler years. Okay, let's go.
Sensory warning: Loud background noises

Pretty standard clip of me running away from people (1)
Not that clear but there is a little bit of stimming going on went I want to come off the swing (2)
Running away from the typicals again (3)
Sensory issue with the sunlight! I'm rubbing my eyes in response! (4)
This is just me repeatedly refusing to pose for a pic....and everyone tried and force me to stay in the photo. They never really got this was never a good idea (5)
I wanted to be alone at this point. Even though I really like my cousin, who is trying to interact with me. (6)
Mum was briefly talking about my sleeping. Sleep can be difficult for a lot of autistics (7)
I chose to walk around a toy house in circles over interacting with anybody else (8)
Another sensory issue, this time with suncream being put on my skin. Now I know of a certain way to put it on comfortably, but nobody knew about it back then! (9)
Small talk at the table wasn't really my vibe (10)
Books over people (even though I couldn't read 😂) (11)
Me doing gross toddler stuff, followed by running away from people (again) and a little bit of arm flapping at the end! (12)
