Leeds United Midfielders

Following feedback on my threads on Leeds United defenders, here’s a thread I’ve put together on Leeds United’s midfield assets.

In order of FPL appeal:
1. Jack Harrison (LW)
2. Mateusz Klich (CM)
3. Helder Costa (RW)
4. Pablo Hernández (CAM)
5. Tyler Roberts (CAM)

Jack Harrison MID LEE
Predicted price: £6.0m
Playing position: LW
Appearances: 46
6 goals 8 assists
Per game: 1.7 shots 1.9 KPs

I think Harrison (23) is the best option in the Leeds midfield. These statistics put him in the Championship’s top 10 for both assists and key passes per game. He’s also Leeds’ 3rd top goalscorer and 2nd top assister.

Mateusz Klich MID LEE
Predicted price: £6.0m
Playing position: CM
Appearances: 45

Per game: 1.7 shots 1.8 KPs
79 chances created

As a box-to-box midfielder, Klich (30) appears to have similar returns to Harrison. However, he usually plays a deeper role, getting into less attacking positions. Klich could still prove to be a solid cheaper alternative, as Leed’s penalty taker.

Helder Costa MID LEE

Costa (26) has signed for Leeds permanently after spending 2019/20 on loan from Wolves. The statistics before and after his promotion with Wolves could prove whether or not he’s ready for the Premier League.

2018/19 at Wolves in Premier League
Appearances: 25
1 goal 2 assists

These stats show that, even after a good season in the Championship, Costa struggled to make his mark in the PL. For this reason, I won’t be looking to bring him straight into my FPL team. However, with another season of Championship experience, he could be one for the watchlist.

Pablo Hernandez MID LEE
Predicted price: £6.5m
Playing position: CAM
Appearances: 36
9 goals 9 assists
Per game: 2.1 shots 2.3 KPs

Hernandez (35) has the most goal involvements of all the Leeds midfielders, with only Roberts playing less mins, so will likely be the most expensive. However, from GW 38-46, Hernandez only played over 45mins in 2 games. He will continue to have his mins managed due to his age.

Tyler Roberts MID LEE
Predicted price: £5.0m
Playing position: CAM
Appearances: 23
4 goals 1 assist
Per game: 1.5 shots 0.6 KPs
13 chances created

Roberts (21) could be Hernandez’s long-term replacement. He’s only played over 60mins in 8 of his appearances. Unable to rival Hernandez’s creativity, he’s likely to go another season as his understudy.
