Proofs that the Doctor was in love with Rose and not with Reinette in “The Girl in The Fireplace” a thread:

Okay, so, I decided to do this thread ‘cause I believe FIRMLY in this theory of mine. I don’t know what else to say, since I will talk a lot during the thread so let’s begin!

Lets start simple shall we? When The Doctor met Reinette for the first time she’s a kid. He knows that time is different when goes to her the second time but it only took five or ten minutes for him. How is it possible that he falls in love with her practically immediately?

Of ‘course he’s in shook when he saw her and he’s a bit uncomfortable especially when she said that he’s not a stranger since she know her since she was 7, because again for him it’s been only 5 minutes.

Now, I’m not saying he’s not finding her attractive but if you think he fell in love with her after that he saw her all grown up, then even Eleven should had been in love with Amy, right? Since for him has been five minutes as well when he saw her as a kid and then as an adult.

Of course Reinette is in love with him. He’s the hero who saved her from the monster. The monsters are afraid of him. She thought he was an imaginary friend (Amy!!!) and now she sees him again, he’s real, she’s a grown woman, OF COURSE SHE KISSED HIM.

This again when he said “you never want to listen to reason” I believe she thought, “okay, so I’ll stop, and I’ll follow my heart, ‘cause clearly he’s pushing me not to listen to my brain because he’s feeling the same”

Okay, you’re telling me that this reaction is love? This is him being a total geek because one of the most famous woman of the history kissed him. If you know this character well you KNOW that’s the reason. How can you see love in this?

Yeah, ur right, he’s madly in love with Reinette, in fact the first thing he wants to do after the kiss is going to Rose and tell her what happened. The way he called her it’s like “you never know what just happened to me!” but in a fanboy way. (Next)

In the last episode he almost said he loved her and now he’s in love with Reinette. Probably he’s so excited that he wants to tell her something like “Madame de Pompadour kissed ME! Can you believe this?” Rose jealous? Probably. But for him there was nothing

Yes, he’s looking for them but the way he’s calling Rose, in this singing way “Roooose”. Like a kid.

He’s not looking at her like this bc he’s in love but bc she’s Madame de Pompadour! Yes, not a news that he can meet important historical figure but, he always keep that excitement. He change expression bc he realize she and the kind didn’t met yet so he has to be careful-

-with the time or what they do in France because they (Reinette and the kind) HAVE to meet so that Reinette can became one of the most import woman in history alias Madame de Pompadour.

He didn’t tell Rose they kissed not because he wants to keep it for himself or other craps, but like he said “I became an imaginary friend”. So again where did you see all this love? Also, yes he was excited but I believe it’s not the first time he kiss someone famous

“Yeah, but he called her Cleo” there you go. We all know the Doctor is charming.
Rose is a bit jealous here but Mickey it’s kinda teasing her and then what’s wrong with it? They are practically dating.

She’s flirting, he’s not. He’s focus on the “mission” let’s call it that. He’s now in that mood where he need to stay focus and as you see he is with no problem.

He’s not impressed that she could step into his memories. He’s scared that she might see something personal. I think it’s pretty obvious this is a very “intime” technique and she step in with no permission.

Also he’s not alone. He’s been alone, he will be alone, but right now he’s not. He has a family (Rose, Mickey, Jackie). He act like it I think because he never believe that he can fully happy. “Lonelier now” where? Like Sarah Jane said “you ACT like such a lonely man”

This scene is a bit hard for me to understand. She might have seen his name but the way she said “it’s more than just a secret” make me think that maybe she saw something else, also because I believe he close that door immediately (unless its always close) idk.

And here comes the troubles. She thinks that now she’s the only one who can truly understand him because she saw his mind (without permission) and she’ll start bein a bitch with Rose as well. Guess what, you know nothing about him, dear Reinette :)

Dance = sex. He said he can’t because if he do that and king see that she will not became Madame the Pompadour (listen to his tone) since that was THE night they met e became lovers.
In the episode they make us believe the Doctor and Reinette danced but this doesn’t happened-

Reinette is a beautiful woman but the king is always the king and if he saw her dancing with someone else he easily choose another woman as next lover. He’s not waiting, please. So they didn’t dance even tho Ten comes back all “drunk” and messy. (nice try Moffat)

How can he be drunk (and so he party all night, and supposedly dance with Reinette) if that is not even wine and he’s immediately sober after 2 minutes?

Reinette being a bitch with Rose part 1:
Rose is there trying to do what’s she’s best at: trying comforting people who are scared and Reinette is constantly talking to her with that tone.
Also Rose is probably feeling inferior since how smart Reinette is. “He’s right about you”

The doctor said the Reinette is smart and Rose is feeling probably intimidated because she couldn’t explain to Reinette what’s happening in the best way, yet she understood perfectly. Remember what I said once: Rose lived a life pretty boring before the Doctor-

-she didn’t finish the school, she had a “poor” job and she remark that in the first episode (and others). She hated that. So of course when she met someone that smart that can “call” the Doctor attention (who’s also very smart) she’s feeling intimidated.

She might never said that out loud, but she’s not feeling confident some times, especially about her intelligence (also because I believe not a lot of people, before the doctor, told her she was brilliant)

The Doctor send Rose there for a reason. She can calm people. “He’ll be there when you need him”. If the Doctor was so in love with her why he’s not there? He’s looking a way to save everyone at the moment? Sure, but still...

Also when Rose said “tell me about it” the glance the Reinette gives her... I believe she realize that Rose feels the same about The Doctor. The Rose loves him just as she loves him.

Rose is trying to say “I’m sorry if you’re so scared, it’s not your fault if this is happening, everything is gonna be okay” and this bitch is treating her like this? Omg! She’s treating her like a stupid kid “it happened child!” Just calm down

Even tho Reinette treat Rose like garbage she still trying to make her feel better, asking her if she’s alright and genuinely feel sad and sorry for her. And you still think she’s one of the wrost character? Okay.

“We can’t use the tardis, we’re parts of the events now” = this will change history (in a biiiig way tho) and he’s trying so hard not to!
“Can we smash through?” No because there will be no way back (yet he did it. Why? I explain later)

He’s all nervous cause he want to find a way that will save everyone and with no problems (without change history) in no time. Classic him. Yes, he’s scared for Reinette but not because he’s in love with her, because that’s who is! The Doctor cares!

The Doctor smashes the mirrors even tho he said he couldn’t because he would have been trap (and so Rose and Mickey). He will never leave Rose like that! And you know it! You are all so cute because you think he’s jealous of the king. He’s just being sassy... wait isn’t being sassy part of Ten?

“It’s over. For you and for me” and he’s looking at the broken mirror. This really is a phrase said by a person in love that is trapped with the woman he loves.
I wonder if he’s looking the mirror because the actual woman he love is trapped on the other side

THIS SCENE EXISTS AND YALL THINK HE IS IN LOVE WITH REINETTE!
Why put Rose looking at the stars and then immediately after Ten who’s doing the same FUCKING THING?! Because it’s love!

“You know all their names, don’t you?” Reinette think that Doctor miss the stars. Because she saw inside his head and so she saw how he loves the tardis and traveling. But, honey ur so wrong

He’s smiling but soon enough the smile fade. He’s sooo happy to be there with Reinette, doesn’t he?

“If the doctor had the chance he would have take the slow path with Reinette” -Moffat. Technically, he has this choice? I mean he could have said “screw y’all” but look how happy he is! “If I’m lucky, if I’m very, very lucky!” Seriously?

Reinette said to the doctor that she would love to see the stars and the doctor tell her to choose one star. Not because he’s in love with her but because he wants to take her to ONE trip (so that she could stay away from her monotony just for a bit)

If he want to take her away forever the history would have been a mess so what was the point of the whole episode? (No dancing, no tardis cause = parts of events = changing history)

The Doctor (ten especially) is someone who never wants to change hugely the history. He’s a science man (all black and white).

Cute tenrose moment cause we deserve this.

Here you can see once again Rose’s insecurity. As I explain before.

We are able to see a part of Rose that it’s almost invisible too see because she act in different ways usually, which is not jealousy. She’s scared and insicure and the fact that you insult this soft baby makes want to punch you together with Reinette.

He wants to read the letter on his own because he wants to deal with the pain alone like he always does (part 1)

(Idk why it didn’t take the doctor that says “I’m always alright). AND AGSIN ROSE SHOWING THE BEST PART OF HER. You don’t deserve her, byeee.
She think he was feeling something for Reinette (plus she knows him and she knows he hates when something like this happens)

Yet there she is being worried and all the she wants is make him feel better because she knows he’s not always alright. If there’s someone who knows the doctor in this episode is her. Not Reinette.

Part two. He wants to deal with the pain alone. And no he’s not in love. He’s feeling guilty (LIKE ALWAYS) because he couldn’t give Reinette one adventure away from the monotony. He’s probably thinking “I could have come sooner.” It’s not his fault yet there he is feeling guilty.
