This is, in fact, a confected scam to make people *think* that the law has changed. Even respected lawyers on here were confused - understandably, given that the government’s habit is to publish amendments to Regulations (which are law) hours before they come into force.
It is a shameful way to govern.
Just one hospital death in England yesterday; and the daily death rate hasn't gone above 20 since 15th July. The virus is more or less dead - but so are our cities. And yet the government's strategy is to terrify the public and destroy any new confidence there might have been.

Everyone needs to tell their friends, family and colleagues about this. Especially if they don't want to hear it. Tell them until you are blue in the face. They must be made to listen.
