I was born in early 1977 in Bangalore. There was a "talkies" (Theatre without proper sound proofing) behind where we lived. Same year Aug 25th saw the release of the movie 'Him Kisise Kum Nahin' and we could hear all the songs 4 times a day. #40YearsWithoutRafi
Apparently I tried singing 'Kya hua tera waada' even before I could say the first words. Grew up with my dad being a big fan of Rafi. As I grew older, my love for his songs kept growing. My spotify recommendation looks like this.
Rafi's voice remains the first love of my life. Gave me companionship during the finest, happiest, darkest and saddest moments of my life. There was a song for all occasions.
Over the last few years, I only wish he hadnt sung the song 'Hum kaale hain to kya hua'. During school days, I have seen dark skinned people being mocked & bullied with that song. I know applying today's morals on a 60s song isnt right but still. #40YearsWithoutRafi
