Build vs. Buy #IndiaTechtwtr #TimeForChange Here's why

We've evaluated 3 infra related services this week @ MSD and it got me thinking. In India, every startup I meet wants to build everything in-house. In the valley, every startup buys another valley startup's product.
Somedays (somedays!) it feels like 90% of early stage success for valley startups, comes from peers, the ecosystem they've built for each other. Almost like their own little demand & supply. The advantage these companies get, the edge in early days, is insane. Why you ask?
Early stage customers means: more testing, more iteration, tweaking for high RoI use cases, PMF & to top it all, with 0 mktg dollars. They have hackernews & PH to pump them up. They have VCs who tweet & share news. They have friends in other startups who post notes on bugs & more
For all the growth happening here in India, we definitely need a better way for the ecosystem to support each other. Not all support = angel investments. A mature ecosystem, a mature startup knows when to build and when to buy. And knows what business they're in, what they're not
There's an insane firepower of infra, deep tech & B2B startups coming up in India ... I meet one new one every day at this point. Testing startups, devOps startups, Billing & sales enablement startups ... it's all here guys - should you care and want to look closer to home.
RoI wise, I can tell you this. I've spent years both buying & convincing many customers to buy tech where it matters. And every time someone who had no biz building went with build, they wasted 10s of Millions before circling back to buy. Think hard.
Here are some B2B/deeptech/infra companies we use or have discovered @ MSD
@chargebee @lambdatest @last9 HippoVideo @VernacularAI @last9inc postman ofc!!

There are another 100 easy. But why don't you guys add your lists here? Any favorites here?
Oh we use @thedarwinbox for HR. @recotap for ads. I know @srikrishnang has a new sales enablement startup rocketlane ...
