One of many frustrations about this pandemic is that everyone has been focusing on the wrong things.
We've known for months that the virus mainly spreads in enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, and hardly at all outdoors. 1/ https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/07/why-arent-we-talking-more-about-airborne-transmission/614737/

Masks are incredibly necessary indoors, and social distancing indoors provides very little protection. All the emphasis on hand sanitizer and power washing surfaces seems extremely misplaced. 2/
What people should be doing:
1) Avoid enclosed indoor spaces as much as possible.
2) Always wear a mask when indoors
3) If at all possible, open doors and windows
4) If not possible, use air filters indoors. 3/

5) Social distancing won't help much indoors, but you should still do it for extra safety.
6) Little or no evidence that the virus spreads on surfaces, so wash hands frequently but otherwise don't worry too much.
7) Outdoors is pretty safe, as long as you social distance.
