I am an advocate for suicide prevention, particularly in my local area.
Coonabarabran, where I live, has a higher rate of suicide than the national average.
I believe that suicide prevention starts way before there's mental health issues

I work on the idea that feeling that you belong to a community and that you are comfortable talking to that community, is one way to build reserves for when things get tough, and things always get tough.

We built a Yarning Circle in our local park to make a place where people can sit and talk and just be.
All sorts of people go there now, locals, tourists, people having committee meetings lol

Coonabarabran is known for its night skies and astronomy so the fire pit was commissioned to represent that
This was during the building but you can see the size better here. We planted bush tucker plants which recently disappeared overnight (!) so we are replacing them....
