I'm almost 50. I used to say that as Gen X we grew up in the most amazing time. We went from B&W TV's to 80 some odd inch monstrosities. We were there for the launch of the first PCs and Mac's. We were there for the switch from rotary to push button phones.
We were there for the first space shuttle launch. We saw the first mobile phones, starting with bag phones and morphing in to smart phones. We got to see the dawn of MTV and literally watched as video killed the radio star.
We got to experience the birth of cable TV. We got to watch the wall in Berlin fall. We experienced the nation no longer looking down on the US Armed forces .
And now...I have to wonder where we have gone to as a nation. I'm looking down the road at what the next 40 years will look like and I'm not optimistic at all. What sort of world will my children and grand children inherit?w
What sort of shit show will Gen Z, have to navigate in their 20s? I didn't sacrifice my literal blood, sweat, and tears to see Marxism rising. I and many others didn't wreck our bodies for this great nation for this.
I think of my father. Born in the great depression and likely to leave this mortal coil in another. And why should this be so? Because there are those who want to see it become a reality. They think they are agents of change..
But they forget that the first rule of any successful revolution is to kill the leaders of the revolution. Again, all that we have accomplished, and for what? No I will not go gentle into that good night. I will rage, rage against the dying of the light.
