Anyone else find it so uncomfortable and dehumanizing when people are so quick to glaze over genocide, like it’s not an earth-shattering, world-shifting traumatic collective experience that shapes generations to come—and a DENIED one at that? Why has that become so normalized?
Armenian youth today are raised by a generation who didn’t have grandparents, by orphaned grandparents who grew up without their parents. This isn’t something in the distant past. Our family histories stop right there. Mine do at least.
Having to provide evidence of your trauma over and over again is so exhausting, especially in the wake of this week’s geopolitics, so I just want to hold space for everyone who feels that way. Take some time to take care of yourselves too❤️
I'm not just talking about Armenians here, but about all people who have survived genocides that are not recognized. The issue is how outsiders/bystanders continue to believe & uphold "official" narratives put forth by the state, instead of actual survivors, time after time.
