So, at the end of this month, the Comedy Bang! Bang! Show will be leaving netflix, much to the sorrow of me and my roommates. You see, CBB, both the podcast and the television show are nearly sacred to us. They are woven into the fabric of our friendship. @ScottAukerman
My girlfriend Sofi and I have a habit of listening to it aloud while we play video games together, and my current roommate and my relationship didn’t really start to gel until one day when I shoved earbuds in his ear and made him listen to Brett Gelman’s iBrain.
He has since listened to the entire podcast in its entirety at least 3 times, more if you count the times he did it years ago when there were far less episode.

We all live together and one of the things we love to do is just throw on an episode of the CBB television show.
After we watched the whole series through several times, we’d try to “randomize it” but closing our eyes and flipping through the seasons and episode, but I felt that this favored the middle seasons and episodes just by the nature of how netflix works.
So, Sofi and I decided we wanted to surprise him by making him a little gift for father’s day (because he was super kind to us on father’s day and made a special effort because both Sofi and my father’s are deceased).

So, that’s when we came up with this:
Behold! The CBB episode randomizer jar!!! Made out of a repurposed pickle jar, it holds a slip of paper for every episode.
I also tried to make it so that the inside didn’t smell like pickles, so I threw a bunch of cinnamon in there, but now it just smells like cinnamon and pickles, a pungent aroma that we now refer to as “The Smell of Comedy”.
I just wanted to share this and let Scott Aukerman, @reggiewatts , @KidCudi, @alyankovic Neil Campbell, @Kulap, @TimKalpakis, and MANY MANY others who worked on this show, just how much it meant to us and how grateful we were to have unfettered access to it on Netflix for so long
Tomorrow, on the 31st, we will be watching the final episode, where the camera drives away, leaving them to continue making episodes of CBB, even if no one watches. One of the most powerful and oddly emotional endings to a comedy series I have ever seen.
You are all an inspiration to aspiring comedy performers and lovers of the absurd. I can’t tell you how much it all meant to us, but this is me trying.

Thanks again Hot Saucerman,

Yours,
