Getting lots of calls today re: absentee ballots.

Most important thing to know: They are safe! @DavidsonVotes is GREAT, & the people who work hard there every day want your vote to count. 🇺🇸

Deadline for absentee applications has now passed, so here’s what you need to know now:
1) If you requested today, you may not get your ballot until Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. If you mail it back, it won’t get there. What should you do?

2) If Tues or Wed, fill it out & then PAY to have it overnight mailed to the @DavidsonVotes. Use @USPS @FedEx or @UPS.
3) If It arrives Thurs, you are screwed. TN has a law against delivering your ballot, so you can’t take it anywhere. The only thing you can do is go to the polls (which you were trying to avoid anyway), & vote provisionally. But, only 23% of those ballots are usually counted.
4) @repjimcooper asked @GovBillLee on a phone call yesterday to use his COVID Executive Order powers to authorize drop boxes at each county election commission on Election Day.

Voters could drive up, show their ID to election officials, and drop their ballot in a secure box.
5) Voters, urge him to do this. The delays at the USPS don’t discriminate. Both Republican and Democratic ballots are going to be slowed. We need a quick solution to a unique problem. Many states—including ruby red ones—use drop boxes with no problems. 🇺🇸
6) We also need to demand transparency in the days after the election. How many came in Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, etc. How many ballots were postmarked well in advance of the election, but didn’t arrive due to postal delays. Whose ballots didn’t count?
7) August is dress rehearsal for November. We need answers and info and transparency so we can educate and prepare for November.
