1) Straight scriptwriters may never understand the lesbian audience. They will watch FIVE SEASONS of a show on the HOPE that in the finale the protagonists will kiss (She-Ra). And seven where they definitely aren't going to kiss (Once Upon a Time).
2) I don't want my lesbian characters to have drama and tragedy forever and always. We get enough of that in real life. I don't want their storylines to end with them dying at their wedding (Los Hombres de Paco), or be cheated on, or whatever someone thought would be dramatic.
3) I want them to have SCREEN TIME like other characters. And if they get a spin-off because their regular show won't give them screen time, I want them to have a happy ending. I literally do not want an additional hour of drama. I just want them happy.
4) In summary, if you are a script writer, calculate how much time you give your minority characters. If they get a fraction of everyone else's: change it. Always giving them unhappy endings? CHANGE IT. The problem isn't Bury Your Gays. It's the persistence of unhappy stories.
