i have arrived. solid crowd. one blonde girl is walking around in booty shorts with a selfie stick, presumably hosting a livestream and clearly not bothering to obscure faces or features. smh.
i’m interested to find out what a “nonviolent direct action” looks like. sound system from this afternoon has been set back up.
again: @wagatwe will be my point person. same setup as last time. https://twitter.com/itsa_talia/status/1288286673290366979?s=21
JRG 4933 undercover posted up
really strong turnout compared to other actions. this is about half.
UC with a dog very obviously checking shit out, given away by this cop who couldn’t resist a friendly wave. doesn’t help the UC was the most easily clockable cop i’ve ever seen in my life.
the action right now is again organizers & leaders speaking on the community, the work, similar but more flexible than the presser this afternoon.
“not on our watch, not on our streets. no justice, no peace.” carline pinto again calling for @NYPDShea’s resignation.
unclear why they’re not here but i haven’t seen a single person from nycmarchers. they didn’t speak/appear at the presser, they weren’t at the trans liberation march, and they’re not at this direct action — despite both foley actions being led by numerous groups.
sounds like another march is approaching so maybe mystery solved?
refusefascism coming through!!!!!
gotta be 300 people here now
the Art from the trans liberation march is still on display
cop just complained “this is supposed to be peaceful” bc a mentally distressed man started walking toward them
riot squad posting up, likely going to form a barricade.
front line is posting up, will likely act as a barrier between the cops and the protestors to deter agitators from taking the bait. a very cool looking switzerland.
jhamsenn’s first day of kindergarten 🌟
no bike cops yet. i also don’t see any zip ties. we’ve been here since 6pm and they didn’t post up until the sun started setting.
waiting for my digital press pass to come through before i get arrested
looks like the group is heading to march
ooo it’s art, baby
march making 3 single file lines as a show of how organized the people can be.
huge. bike brigade is massive today too.
pretty good lines for 300 people
ok flex!!!!!
there’s an impressive number of walkies among organizers. like working at american eagle, but antifascist.
she still vloggin
the energy is so good!!!!
“we love you, we miss you. we will get justice for you” outside the manhattan detention center
showoff
steps outside the MDC
really can’t describe the energy & quality organizing happening right now. this is the biggest action i’ve seen since occupy that wasn’t just a kickback
this is so inspiring
the cars said acab
crowd marching through chinatown and keeping them lines GOOD AS HELL
the people united will never be defeated
some will never be able to resist taking the bait especially if it means ruining my shot :(
new york has awoken.
we’ve hit a barricade and organizers *immediately* formed a line between the protestors & the cops, told them not to engage.
i climbed up on that thing to take this photo
die in getting set as riot cops start lining up to reinforce the barricade.
none of them have body cameras
the die in remains unperturbed.
i climbed the thing again
action is wrapping up. huge cheers as the multitude of organizer groups are named and thanked. “the next time one of us is kidnapped, there will be THOUSANDS of us. because whose streets?”
crowd cheers “our streets!”
organizers are marching everyone back and making sure no one is left behind to avoid altercation because “we have to organize and strategize.” man, solid work all around.
the dispersal march might actually be more lit than the real march?!
freedom march nyc, strategy for black lives are two of the organizing groups who put together this event and i gotta say, it’s fucking amazing.
we’re doing relay races now 😂😂😂😭😭
