Let's make things a little bit more realistic for you.

✨ You can literally do this in a *week* and make some extra money 💵✨

I did it. And I barely spoke any English and had a hard time understanding people over the phone.

Let's start a 🧵 with 10 steps! ⬇️
Step 1: Drive around your house, and find 10 local businesses.

They could be whatever you'd like: restaurants, local coffee shops, pet stores, whatever.

Write down their names and addresses. Go back home.
Step 2: Google each one of them. You are looking for their websites.

If they are small businesses, their websites will not be crazy complex, and most of the time, outdated.

Look at the functionality: it's probably a cookie-cutter static template with a few pages only.
Step 3: Now that you identify which businesses are a good target, decide on how to build the site.

Here are three options:

1. Using Square Space
2. Using WiX
3. Using a paid template (around $30 - $60)
4. Using a free template

You want to keep it simple: no JS.
Step 4: Create a one-page website for each one of these businesses.

You don't want to spend more than 3 - 4 hours on each one. You don't need to do everything, just enough of the landing page for them to see the value.

Make sure you use real information about the business.
Step 5: After you finish the site, host it somewhere.

Here are some options:

▫️If you are using Square Space or WiX, they will host it for you.

▫️If you are using your own code, you can host it in an S3 bucket in AWS (for free), or Firebase (for free).
Step 6: Create a document to present your work.

▫️Start with a parag. about why the new site will be better. These are good buzz-words to mention: modern, faster, scalable, flexible.

▫️Add a screenshot and the link to their sample site.

▫️A little bit about you + contact info
Step 7: Print out a copy of the document.

I'd recommend making this document look professional and printing it out in a nice glossy paper. You don't have to, but it'd be nice.

Remember: a couple of pages max!
Step 8: Take the document to each business

You want to do a couple of things:

1. Find the email of the business, send a copy of the document.

2. Drive, ask for the owner, introduce yourself, give them the printed version.
Step 9: Set your price accordingly.

You want to have a feeling of pricing before you get them the document. Remember these are small businesses, so they will be price-sensitive.

But you want to get your practice started, and some clients, so that shouldn't matter!
Step 10: Close the deal

Expect to close no more than 10% - 20% of the businesses that you reach out to. Out of 10, that'll probably be one interested owner.

Now it's time to have a conversation about it and close the deal! Remember: your goal is not to maximize income!
Does this work?

YES! I've done it multiple times.

The clients you get by doing this will get things rolling. You'll learn a ton, and you'll start making money.

All of it without knowing much programming at all!
