We need to de-stigmatize going back to live with parents. For ~70 yrs it was realistic to earn a living wage at 21 and buy a house and live on your own, so gen X and older thinks that’s “how it should be done” and if you don’t you’re some kind of bum/mooch
I used to be judgmental of those who were older and still living with their parents, because I had seen/heard that that was a “bad” thing growing up
But sometimes you have a financial shitstorm crash down (like covid), but also, sometimes, two part time jobs and an 80-hr work week still doesn’t pay the bills or get you a loan or a mortgage
My guess is that most people want nothing more than the ability to fend for themselves financially and live in their own space, but that probably hasn’t been such an easy reality for quite some time
