Leeds United Centre-Backs
Following the results of my recent poll, here’s some information on the Leeds United CBs.
Liam Cooper DEF LEE
Predicted price: £4.5m
Playing position: CB
Appearances: 38
⚽️ 2 goals 🅰️ 0 assists
Per game: 👟1.4 tackles ⛔️1.8 interc.
👟3.0 clear. ⛔️0.4 blocks
As the club captain, Cooper is the only nailed-on option in what has been a very strong Leeds defence. He’s not a great threat from set peices, but his defensive stats mean that Cooper likely to receive bonus points when Leeds keep a clean sheet.
Ben White DEF LEE*
Predicted price: £5.0m
Playing position: CB
Appearances: 46
⚽️ 1 goal 🅰️ 2 assists
Per game: 👟1.6 tackles ⛔️2.5 interc.
👟2.7 clear. ⛔️0.5 blocks
* White was on loan at Leeds during the 2019/20 season. As it stands, he will be returning to Brighton for next season. Leeds are likely to want to keep White at the club for at least another season, but Brighton are eager to have him back. I‘ve included him only as a reference.
Gaetano Berardi DEF LEE
Predicted price: £4.5m
Playing position: CB
Appearances: 22
⚽️ 0 goals 🅰️ 0 assists
Per game: 👟1.0 tackles ⛔️1.1 interc.
👟2.0 clear. ⛔️0.4 blocks
On 20th July, Leeds announced that Berardi has suffered an ACL tear in his knee, and now faces up to 9 month on the side lines. This means he might not available to feature in the PL until April.
Pascal Struijk DEF LEE
Predicted Price: £4.0m
Playing position: CB
Appearances: 5
⚽️ 0 goals 🅰️ 0 assists
Per game: 👟0.8 tackles ⛔️1.4 interc.
👟1.2 clear. ⛔️0.2 blocks
Struijk (aged 20) has only appeared in the starting line-up on twice, his other 3 appearances being off the bench. Struijk’s 2 starts were both at CDM, due to Phillips’ injury. As an unproven CB with limited experience, he’s unlikely to be the one to replace White in the lineup.
With White returning to Brighton from loan, Berardi out for the majority of the season, and Struijk an unproven CB, Leeds are likely to look to purchase a new CB in the current transfer window. This makes Cooper the only viable Leeds CB for your FPL teams.
