Is DJ Chark is the next AJ Green?

A thread.
1. Physical Comparison

Chark - 6'3, 200lbs. 4.34s 40. 9 1/4 hands.

Green - 6'4, 211lbs. 4.50s 40. 9 1/4 hands

Chark actually had better athletic measurables across the board, but he didn't do agility drills.
2. College Production

Chark - FR played 1 game (79yd TD run), SO 26/466/3 in 11 gms, JR 40/874/3 in 13gms. 20.5 yds/rec👀

Green - FR 56/963/8 in 13 gms, SO 53/808/6 in 10 gms, JR 57/848/9 in 9gms. 15.8 yds/rec

Advantage Green, but Chark showed serious potential w/ opportunity.
3. Rookie Season

Chark - 14/174/0 w/ 32 tgts, with starting QBs Blake Bortles and Cody Kessler. OC was fired midseason but built the team around running game.

AJ Green - 65/1057/7 on 115 tgts😼 with Jay Gruden at OC and Andy Dalton at QB.

Advantage Green BUT...
4. Chark's breakout SO season vs AJ Green's rookie year

Chark - 73/1008/8 on 118 tgts

AJ Green - 65/1057/7 on 115 tgts
So it took him a year to get the chance at the NFL level. That's okay. He was a deep threat in college, and now he's working on transforming into a more rounded receiver at the highest level. That will take time.
5. The next step.

Target. Volume.

What made AJ Green such an elite option for 2012-2013? Massive target volume.

2012. 164 tgts = 97/1350/11
2013. 178 tgts = 98/1426/11

Can Chark command that type of workload?
6. The missing link

So who was calling all these plays for AJ Green again? Oh. That's right. Jay Gruden was the OC from 2011-2013 in Cinci.

Guess who is the OC for the Jags this year? That's right. Jay M'fn Gruden.
And guess what?

He loves DJ Chark.

As noted in this interview from back in March. https://twitter.com/Jaguars/status/1235372424360792065?s=20
If you don't think Jay Gruden sees what I'm seeing in DJ Chark, I think you are kidding yourself.

He wants to use him. Everywhere.

The team is going to be bad. They will have to throw. Chark is in line to see MASSIVE usage. Just what he needs to evolve into his final form.
Go get DJ Chark.
