A Thread on the book "Work Clean" by Dan Charnas. Things I noted/learned from the book (~12)
One Liner- A book that explores the philosophy of Mise-en-place and how we can apply that to organize our daily lives.

Mise-en-place means to put in place. It's the simple idea of "everything has a place and everything in its place"
Chefs put a lot of time creating systems and processes to organize their work. Mise-en-place is the central theme of those systems.

1. Planning is prime:
- Make plans in advance for every single day.
- Pick 3 actions per day.
- Find your Meeze point (When the no of tasks are just right)
- Arrive 15 min early everywhere
- Plan daily and commit to the plan.

2. Arrange Spaces and Perfect Movements
- Reduce the friction from your workspace.
- Organize your physical and digital spaces.
- Create processes and checklists
- Keep improving your processes over time.
- Every useless task and motion is wasted energy.

3. Clean as you go
- The cleaner your station, the faster you "cook".
- Reset your workspace as you go (every hour or so)
-Practice Knolling (Keeping things squared and aligned)
- Always be cleaning. Treat your spaces as sacred. https://twitter.com/Deepuasok/status/1286059127295356928

4. Making First Moves
There are two kinds of work
a) Hands-on work: Work that requires your active involvement
b) Hands-off work: Work that you begin and is picked up by others.
Commit 30 min everyday to enable and unblock hands off work.
Hands-off work is leverage.

5. Finishing Actions
- Don't create orphan tasks (left halfway through)
- Tie them up and add notes so that you can pick up later with ease.
- If is a task is almost done, finish it.
- Always be unblocking

6. Slow down to Speed Up
- When things get busy we panic and work gets hurt.
- When things get hectic, slow down.
- Clean up the space and Clear up your mind.
- When you feel tired or distracted don't stop. Instead move very slowly.

7. Open Eyes and Ears
- Excellence needs focus and awareness.
- Alternate between detail oriented work and big picture work.

- Note down, "What went right, What went wrong".
- At the end of the day, reflect the why's behind them.
- Coach yourself, be willing to be coached and coach others.

- Value your space, time, energy & resources. Waste nothing.
