Ableism a thread 👇

I've reached the point where I'm going to block people I thought were friends. When you use ableist insults, you cause harm to those with disabilities and that includes ME

Intersectional includes those with disabilities, like mental health disorders 1/
It would be unethical for even a psychiatrist to diagnose someone that isn't their patient, so don't do it

BPD, Bipolar, anxiety, etc. are all serious disorders and not a joke. Don't use them as an insult and don't compare terrible people to people like me thanks 2/
Don't use the words "crazy" or "insane"

Insulting intelligence with words that historically described intellectual disability is the same as using the R word

"Stupid" "idiot" "dumb" "moron" are ableist slurs

Use ignoramus instead. Ignorance is a choice, disability isn't 3/
Don't mock people for their physical disabilities. We were born this way. Many of us have been abused and harassed for having the nerve to exist. There's no need to pile on to this

For example mocking the way someone walks or holds a cup. You have no idea what we go though 4/
If your feminism isn't intersectional then it's not feminism. We need to make feminism a safe place for those with disabilities and mental health disorders

We matter!

Here's a helpful guide of ableist words and fun substitutes you may use /end
