Alright here's the deal.
#Intersex is often, and should be, defined as ANY condition that leads to a deviation from the cluster-defined category of "male" and "female" - ie, biosex isn't a real thing, it's just a shorthand to describe commonly associated traits. (1/?)

This means
- Chromosomal differences
- Gonadal differences
- Genital differences
- HORMONAL DIFFERENCES
All fall into this definition (2/?)

The ONLY REASON things like #PCOS (
) isn't counted is because of the frequency.
The Queer-phobic (which includes anti-intersex) medical industrial complex really wants to keep the rate of intersex conditions down to that nearly-2% level. (3/?)

If we included PCOS and other conditions - which WE SHOULD - the rate would be somewhere more like 15%.
That's unacceptable to the binary-focused society that demands intersex-ness be considered an aberration rather than... normal.
That's unacceptable to the binary-focused society that demands intersex-ness be considered an aberration rather than... normal.
The fact that so many conditions which should fall into this umbrella can still allow for a person to have kids means that this would defy one of the ways intersex people are considered "defective".
In short, it defies the typical methods of demonization of intersex folks (5/?)

But things like hirsutism, heat sensitivity, acne, weight gain, lack of periods - and this is jut for PCOS - cause real change for people affected and studies have SHOWN that people with PCOS have DIFFERING GENDER IDENTITY than non-PCOS cafab folk (sources provided soon) (6/?)
It is irresponsible in general to treat intersexness as weird, aberrant, or inconsequential - and, when we realize how many things it actually includes, just WRONG on top of that. And that's why we have to fight to broaden the definition.

this one is transphobic as hell but it still contributes to my point: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3965857/
More transphobia but here https://www.endocrine-abstracts.org/ea/0029/ea0029p957
People with PCOS (like me) speak out on the possibility:

The fact is the vast majority of resources on this topic when you google it are transphobic, intersex-phobic, or just misogynistic/fatphobic as hell.
People with PCOS experience hardship based on their physical appearance which is the direct result of hormonal differences.

PCOS is an intersex condition. The end.
If you claim otherwise, you have to consider *why*. And then realize you're blinded by bioessentialism.
