What are y'all doing out there? Well, I know. Y'all are carrying on like we are not in the middle of a global pandemic and hammering on anyone who believes in science and growing evidence base about the pandemic. Stop it. Risk mitigation begins with YOU.
The gutting of the value of science has been happening for years and has reached a peak during a global pandemic. No more. We all play a role in risk mitigation. Wear a mask. Keep your distance. Wash your hands. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1286457920301416?fbclid=IwAR25Hys-IKy4fOORwBF7GxoDhnCYOiMeEkdKhoArngOrYFXAtlMhkZuYawo
And, furthermore, for those of you out there finding fault with EVERY SINGLE RECOMMENDATION out there, step down. Your pettiness is unbecoming. Those of us who are public health scientists are doing the best we can in the era of a novel (that means new) virus in humans.
What are y'all going to do when a vaccine becomes available? Who do you think will have access to this vaccine? Do you think all the risk mitigation recommendations will magically disappear because everyone in the world will be vaccinated at a point in time? What?
The beauty of science is how it is driven by questions and strengthened by what we know today as compared to yesterday. We can all be better together - but that means ALL OF US and TOGETHER. Wear a mask. Keep your distance. Wash your hands.
I am angry, y'all. A really smart and talented epidemiologist has been posting incredible lay language summaries of the evidence and recommendations on FB. She and HER FAMILY have received nasty messages, so she has to walk away. That's total crap.
